St Helena Conclave Enthronement Meeting

Friday 8th September 2017

A well-attended meeting of St Helena Conclave witnessed an excellent Enthronement Ceremony under the watchful eye of Conclave Marshall, Stephen Gregory PGCh and DivDepM. The Division was represented by the new Divisional Eusebius, Ill Kt. Peter Schofield PGWofReg. Peter has strong links with St Helena, having presented a new baton to the Conclave some few years ago, and which he had made and hand carved himself. The baton continues to be used by the Conclave and is proudly passed on to each new Sovereign following Enthronement.
"The Conclave's new MPS, Frank Laird is Joined by EV David Pestell
and Peter Schofield, Divisional Eusebius"
Peter was warmly welcomed by the MPS, P. Kt. David Hickman. David referred to the fact that this was Peter's very first outing as Divisional Eusebius and the Conclave's Principal Guest. He was subsequently given the salutations of his Divisional Rank. Peter thanked W. Kts. for the warm welcome.
" David Hickman, Immediate Past and Enthroning Sovereign joins the group"
David subsequently Enthroned his successor, now P. kt. Frank Laird, in a very enjoyable and sincere way. Frank played his part in reciting his obligation in a faultless manner. In turn, he Installed the new Viceroy, P. Kt. David Pestell, in a short but sweet ceremonial.

As is the tradition in St Helena Conclave during the Investment of Officers, the Immediate Past Sovereign was invested as Sentinel, how the mighty fall!!
"Some of the Conclave and visiting Kts join in the congratulations
The meeting concluded with a very enjoyable and convivial Festive Board celebrating a job well done. The new Sovereign added some extra zest to the proceedings by confirming during the evening that he intended to propose a new member for the Conclave. Subject to the usual protocols, it is hoped that the ceremony will take place in the new year, and the Officers were put on due notice to brush up on their Red Cross Ritual in the intervening period.
